“My partnership is enabling Hillsong Channel to get the Gospel into millions of homes around the world.”
“When Brian Houston announced the launch of Hillsong Channel, I made two quick decisions: The first was that our business would support the Channel financially, and the second was that we’d install cable TV. Just being able to come home from a crazy day at work, crash on the couch and turn on Hillsong Channel is so uplifting. I’ll always find a message that hits the spot — whether it’s Brian Houston, Carl Lentz or John Gray.
One evening, I arrived home from work discouraged and exhausted. I had been wearing myself out trying to please people. On this particular day, Joyce Meyer was preaching a message on exactly that! “God doesn’t expect you to do everything for everybody,” she said. It was just the word I needed. I recall thinking, You know what Tony? It’s okay to say no! It’s been those small, God moments that have helped shape the way I approach business and life — simple thoughts that can be so revolutionary. My kids watch the Channel too. My son loves the praise and worship and my 10-year-old daughter likes the kid’s shows.
Since becoming a monthly partner, I have seen a 25% growth in my business, which is a long way from where I was 10 years ago. I had a house mortgage I couldn’t pay, I had insurmountable debt and a nine-month old in the hospital fighting for her life; but God turned it all around, and I’m convinced giving was part of the key. Each month, team boxes are delivered to our home and I’ll put them on the kitchen bench until the kids get home from school. We have a friendly argument over who gets to open it. Over the years, we have been sent T-shirts, lanyards, digital downloads and powerful messages. The gifts are a bonus. The real motivation for me is that my partnership is enabling Hillsong Channel to get the Gospel into millions of homes around the world.
I look at it like this: I may never have the platform to stand and preach in front of two million people, but I can use what God has given to me — which is my business and my finances. Perhaps the most exciting part is getting to hear the testimonies of people who have been impacted by the Channel. In a small way, we feel as though we have played a part in that.”
